Originally written in Bengali, “Didi” is one of Tagore’s many short stories that explore themes of family, duty, and the complexities of sibling relationships.

The story revolves around the central character, a young girl named Aparna, who is affectionately referred to as “Didi” by her younger brother, Gopi. Aparna takes on the role of caretaker and protector for her brother after the death of their parents, sacrificing her own dreams and aspirations for his well-being.
