“Khudito Pashan,” which translates to “The Hungry Stones” in English, is a short story by Rabindranath Tagore, the esteemed poet, novelist, and Nobel laureate in Literature. This narrative is set in the backdrop of an ancient palace in India and revolves around the mystical experiences of a government official who becomes fascinated by the tales of a haunted building.

The protagonist, a government official, is appointed to the region and becomes intrigued by the stories surrounding a dilapidated palace known as the Bara-Kothi, or the Twelve Towers. Despite warnings about its haunted reputation, he decides to stay there and soon finds himself drawn into a series of supernatural encounters.
